EMHA Staff

EMHA is headed by an Executive Director, a President and a General Assembly. It has transparent financial and accountability facilitated by internal and external auditors. The first EMHA management staff was selected by the General Assembly on establishment and more than 36% were female.

 Membership

Membership and Fees

Membership is open to all individuals above 15 years of age and organizations that fulfil the requirements of the Association as stated in this Constitution, including the payment of membership fees.  There are three categories of members as identified hereunder.

Full Members

Full members are all those who are trained in the field of PhD in Mental Health fields, MSC in Integrated Clinical and Community Mental Health and BSC in psychiatry and Diploma in Psychiatry who comply with the Association’s Constitution, including filling out the appropriate application forms, payment of required fees, and being confirmed by Executive committee.

Associate Members

Associate members are all those who are out of the listed professionals in full members, anybody who is interested and supporting the association objectives and who complies with the Association’s Constitution, including filling out the appropriate application forms, payment of required fees, and being confirmed by the Executive committee. The associate member can attend the general assembly but cannot vote, elect and be elected.

Honorary Members

Honorary members are individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Mental health in Ethiopia or to EMHA and who, upon being nominated by the Executive Director, are approved by a minimum of two-thirds of those attending a General Assembly.

Membership Fees

Membership fees shall be determined by the General Assembly and can be changed as and when necessary.

Rights of Members

Members of the Association shall have the right to:

v    Vote, elect and be elected to the various organs/positions of the Association;

v    Participate in all activities of the Association;      

v    Receive the Association’s publications free of charge; and

v    Have access to information regarding the Association. 

Obligations of Members

Members shall:

v  Uphold the expected professional ethics in their daily practices;

v  Comply with the Constitution and the rules and regulations of the Association as well as the decisions of the General Assembly;

v  Pay membership fees regularly.

Loss of Membership

A member shall be deemed to have forfeited her/his membership status in EMHA upon the decision of the Executive committee in the event of:

v  Failure to abide by the Constitution, rules and regulations of the Association;

v  Professional misconduct confirmed by the appropriate body of the Association and/or court rulings; and

v  Upon death or written request to leave the Association.
